Uraku Tower Hawaii condo is one of those special condos that blurs the line between residence & hotel. Not because it's a
condo hotel – it isn't – but because of some of the services such as its maid service, pick up/drop off at the airport and nearby shopping. Units from about the middle of the building and up boast great ocean views whereas lower floor units look into a car parking section of Ala Moana Shopping Center.
Whatever came to mind, you'd soon come to the conclusion that this was one of the finest residential
condos in Honolulu. The magnificent ocean views are enough to start you thinking that way, but there's even more.
Most condos are 2BRs just under 1,200 sq ft with large balconies ranging from about 140 to 200 sq ft. There are a few high floor 3BR's, all over 2,000 sq ft in size with 400 sq ft or more balcony space.
The reason for these extremely upscale perks is the Japanese bubble, which burst just a short time after Uraku Tower was completed. The project was marketed specifically as vacation homes & investment properties to the Japanese million- and billionaires and the vast majority of the units sold quickly to Japanese. Locals cried foul and, as a result, new laws were passed in Hawaii. Now, 50% of new construction units must be offered only to owner-occupants for a 30 day period, after which, if not sold, can be purchased by investors too.
Still, that may not matter to you as much as the ocean vistas, easy access to Ala Moana Beach Park & Ala Moana Center or the luxury level services. It's a good story to
