About Tradewinds Place in Waikiki Ask someone in Waikiki, even a lifetime local, where Lemon Street is and you'll get a blank look. It's actually a short, block-long side street off of Kapahulu Avenue. More importantly, it's about ½ block up from Kalakaua Avenue, where it runs right against
Waikiki beach.
This is why the Tradewinds Plaza has been successfully running as a
condotel for some time, giving visitors one of the top factors they seek on a Waikiki vacation – fast access to the ocean.
Keep in mind that, though it has the condotel zoning, it does not have hotel operations or services. You get the benefits of serving the short stay market, but you run it more as a vacation condo, handling certain things that a front desk normally would.
The building itself went up in 1979 with 80 units in it. 70 of those are Studio/1BA with various floor plans of 266 to 481 sq ft. The other 10 are 1BR/1BA condos that have 519 sq ft of interior space. The Studio lanais take up 22 to 41 sq ft of outdoor relaxation, the 1BRs taking that to 148 sq ft. Higher floors even have ocean views to brag about.
Security is taken seriously here, with fobs that only take you to your floor, security cameras in the garage and elevators and secured door access as well.
Some owners have decided to make this their home, but if you're like most, you'll have your unit on the market, working for you. Don't worry, you can always stay here when you need a break and spend some time on that beach that's just a few steps away.
