The Sunset Towers is an unusual looking building. It almost looks as if the builders started a business tower for the 1st 4 or 5 floors, then suddenly decided to change course and build condos. It's not unattractive, just striking.
Another striking element is where it is, across the street from a very enticing neighbor, the Ala Moana Center. From Long's to Neiman Marcus, it has shopping to cover every taste, and foodies will find plenty to keep them busy for some time to come as well. It truly is The Shopping Center of the Pacific.
Almost as easy is the walk to Ala Moana Beach Park, just makai across Ala Moan Blvd. The huge open green areas, Magic Island and maybe the most popular beach in town are all there. It's only drawback, the sometimes difficult parking, is no barrier when you live in the Sunset Towers.
The building itself went up in 1969, with 20 floors and 82 residences. The layouts have a lot of range. You'll find Studios (374 sq ft), 1BR/1BA (558 to 642 sq ft), 2BR/1.5BA (794 to 1087 sq ft) and finally 3BR/1.5BA (1115 sq ft).
The lanai spaces are excellent, most measuring either 175 or 203 sq ft, from which you have views of the Ala Wai Canal, Koolau Mountains and, best of all, the ocean playing not too far away off of Ala Moana.
