It isn't often these days for a 5 story building to be a standout property in this central area of town, but this
Honolulu condo is exactly that. Inside the square made up by the 4 streets that define it, the Makiki Hillside rises over the remaining lots, filled with vintage homes and walk-ups that provide charming scenery as well as an unusually open horizon.
The residences inside your building offer layouts of 1BR/1BA with 536 or, more commonly, 604 sq ft and 2BR/1BA with 774 sq ft. Those interiors are augmented by lanais where you can expect about 98 sq ft more. Due to those shorter neighbors you have those greater views than normal, out across the city and its night lights and upward to the Koolau Mountains' greenery growing freely on their slopes.
Although there aren't any real amenities at home, you get the benefits of Makiki District Park, only 2 ½ blocks makai of home, where you'll find basketball & tennis courts, open fields to play or relax on, a swimming pool plus recreational and life enriching programs year round, with something for everyone.
The absence of amenities does have certain benefits. There's less to maintain, keeping monthly fees more manageable. In fact, your fees at Makiki Hillside include electricity, so you know exactly what your bill is each month.
You also know that it's a few minutes to get on H1, or down to Beretania/King Streets for commuting Downtown. Bus commuters have a stop right outside, too.
Going down to nearby Beretania or King also serves up quick trips to Safeway, Times, Walgreens/Petco and Long's. Your own street, Keeaumoku, will even take you right past there and straight to WalMart/Sams Club and a mere block more into Ala Moana Center. Those two options alone could provide everything you'd ever need and most of what you'd ever want, too.
Keeaumoku takes you right home again as well, pulling into the centerpiece of your home's surroundings, the parking lot setting you back from the street so you have a buffer from the already less busy avenues of the Punahou/Makiki neighborhood.
Looking out at the plantation style homes below you from your relatively towering lanai is a nice feeling, like the Lord or Lady of the Manor.
