About Makiki Condos if you love high-rise living, you should be looking in this neighborhood. In Makiki condos have truly taken root like few other places in Honolulu. Most are located in the lower side of the district, closer to King St, so walking to shops and restaurants on that avenue, or nearby, is easy for many.
Makiki's positioning between Punchbowl and Manoa is at a central crossroads between the job center of Downtown and the leisure options of East Honolulu. You may still be stuck in our famous traffic at rush hour, but not for nearly as long as most when you live here.
Ala Moana –
Shopping Center and
Beach Park – are mere minutes away, providing the full range of entertainments between the two. Not to mention the Ward options next door, plus the fast blossoming
Kakaako that'll shortly add limitless new choices to your menu.
With so many condominiums in Makiki, there's something for almost every level of the market, from more affordable units to some of the most expensive properties in this category in Honolulu. We'll look at a few that stand out to demonstrate exactly what you can find in this area of Makiki real estate.
Courtyards at Punahou This is one of those buildings whose name is synonymous with luxury. The unit sizes alone justify the label. The smallest condos here are 2BR and have almost 2,000 sq ft of interior space. These, as well as every other unit, have 2 sizeable lanais to add to that total, too. It makes perfect sense that this Beretania St residence came to life during the Japanese bubble of the 1990's. Few other eras could have produced this level of grandeur. To buy here, plan on a price tag of 7 figures.
The Queen Victoria Further west on Beretania, you'll come to this prominent tower, whose name is very fitting. Throughout the building and the grounds you'll find European décor and accents that recall an earlier, more opulent age. Combine that theme with cutting edge luxuries and security and you have the Queen Victoria. Located very near the Blaisdell Center and other artistic outlets, this is another place where entry will start near, or over, $1M.
1450 Young Street Selected for its size and as an example of lower end properties (300 - 400Ks), this building holds 247 units beneath its roof. This is just one of the many condos on the land between Young and Beretania Streets. There are only 1 and 2 BR residences here, all on the smaller side. The largest 2BR, for example, has 790 sq ft. In compensation, the 28 floors do make for excellent views, including some that see all the way to the swells south.
1015 Wilder Standing right where Makiki and Lower Punchbowl meet, the property consists of two 12 story towers that stand on higher ground from the area makai. This extra height is why so many residents have wonderful views in almost every direction. Most units are 3BR with 1,800 sq ft, making for a roomy and elegant experience. The lifestyle here means listings are rare, so pounce if and when you see one.
These four are just a few examples of the different residences found in or just around the Makiki condo area. It's by no means comprehensive, especially for a place with so much depth in this type of real estate. There truly is a huge range of opportunities here, no matter where you are on the scale of buyers. What's truly beautiful about this area is, no matter where you end up in it, you're going to benefit from all it has to offer – and that's a lot.
