If you're headed mauka on Punahou St, look to your right immediately after you cross over H1. That's the Jason Apartments building, greeting you as you formally enter the Punahou neighborhood.
That fact should be clear, if only from the area's thick green canopied streets that cast their shade over the streets, including some right in front of the Jason Apartments. So dense is their cover that you cannot see where Clark St, which this building fronts on, intersects with Punahou St in Google Maps.
Out of 48 residences, 41 have a 2BR/1BA layout, the other 7 2BR/2BA, all having the same dimensions of 744 sq ft within them. Lanais, in contrast, can have either 48 or 52 sq ft on them to extend their total space.
Views look out at the elegance of the Punahou neighborhood, the green depths of the Koolau mountainsides and the city lights & sights spread out in front of you.
Believe it or not, the journey to get onto H1-W consists of little more than a left turn, the entrance being directly across Punahou street. It can't get easier. Commuting to work Downtown isn't too difficult either. Along with H1, you can ride Beretania St all the way there and King St all the way back.
Beretania also has your local Foodland on it, but near enough that you can walk there. In fact, once you turn onto Beretania from Punahou St, the 1st left (Kalakaua Ave) takes you right into Waikiki and the 2nd (Keeaumoku St) straight to WalMart/Sams Club and Ala Moana Center.
You'll revel in taking walks around this kamaaina neighborhood that reminds us of the more genteel Old Hawaii that's sorely missed. Although some taller buildings have gone up, the residents all respect and observe the tranquil character that has always defined this part of town. Is it the people or the place that causes that? Living here is a good way to find out.
