Ewa Gentry homes have become an evergreen in the
Oahu real estate world. Since the 1990's they've perpetually been one of the largest growth areas on the Island, remaining strong even after the Japanese economy downturn affected just about everything else in Hawaii.
It all began with the greater affordability and larger spaces that newly built Ewa Gentry houses for sale offered almost across the board. With huge tracts of land opening up due to the closing of the plantations, there were developers racing here to build needed housing.
No other community grew so quickly with residences that actually welcomed 1st time homebuyers with special terms. Those initial terms may not be as good as they once were today, but Ewa retains the rest of its potent attractions, along with expansion into higher levels of real estate.
Those new ventures into luxury properties shouldn't discourage anyone looking for more for their money. Ewa is still looking to attract the more typical buyers. The initial neighborhoods developed in the area, like the large Ewa Gentry community, still have homes that come on the market regularly.
All of these houses had a better price point and generally more space, including yards and lawns, than most other
homes on Oahu. That remains true today about those neighborhoods, keeping them extremely attractive.
The flat landscape and many green spaces throughout also make Ewa stand out from so much of the Island that is hilly and paved over. That flatness and mostly low-rise buildings also makes views of the mountains beautifully clear for many residents.
Ewa’s intense growth, along with the even greater expansion of neighboring
Kapolei, has brought shopping and dining options that make traveling to Honolulu a thing of the past. Large shopping centers, entertainment options and an array of restaurants are firmly in place. This is no bedroom community.
With rail on the way, there's much more to come in the future. Beautiful communities like
Ewa Villages, created by
Castle & Cooke, have come to life in anticipation of this as well as to satisfy demand already happening. Another recent addition is the development of
Ho'opili, a mix of commercial and residential spaces that started building in 2014 and will be completed over the coming 2 or 3 decades.
Ewa is on the move, with new reasons to love it coming every single day. Affordability may be what attracts you, but it's the lively local life of this growing, yet spacious town that will keep you.
