These 3 West Maui communities cover 5 miles of beautiful shoreline that made the post-WWII move from plantation lands to resort communities inevitable.
Condos started being built here in the 1960s, with
Hale Kai being the first in 1966. Today condos make up 85% of the residences and the majority are on oceanfront properties.

- Napili Point - Built 1977 (Phase I) and 1978 (Phase II). 115 1 & 2BR units in 5 3-story buildings. 2BRs have a loft area that holds one bedroom. Mix of Leasehold & Fee Simple properties. Every condo has an ocean view. Amenities include 2 pools, recreation area, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Alaeloa - Built 1965. 42 2 - 5BR units in 46 2-story buildings. Leasehold property with duplex & standalone units. Well kept grounds which includes a mango grove. Amenities include heated pool, pavilion, BBQ. Gated community. Vacation rentals allowed.

- Napili Surf - Built 1970. 36 Studio & 1BR units in a 2-story building. Amenities include pool, recreation area, BBQ.
- Napili Bay - Built 1977. 33 Studio units in 3 2-story buildings. Amenities include a recreation area, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Kahana Sunset - Built in 1973. 80 1 & 2BR units in 8 buildings. 2BR residences have 2 floors. Most homes have ocean views. Amenities include pool, putting green, BBQ.
- Royal Kahana - Built in 1975. 236 Studio - 2BR units in a 12-story building. Ocean views from most residences. Amenities include concierge, pool, fitness center, tennis court, club house, meeting room, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.

- Kahana Outrigger - Built in 1981. 16 3BR units in 4 2-story buildings. This is a Leasehold property. Amenities include pool, recreation deck, BBQ.
- Hololani - Built in 1974. 65 2BR units in 2 8-story buildings. Condos are very close to the shoreline and the ocean. Amenities include pool & BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.

- Polynesian Shores - Built in 1972. 52 1 - 3BR units in 3 2-story buildings. All condos look out onto the ocean. Amenities include a pool, hot tub. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Hoyochi Nikko - 18 1BR units in 1 2-story building. Mini-beach sand area on edge of lawn to enjoy ocean on-property. All residences look out to the ocean. Amenities include pool, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Mahana at Kaanapali - Built in 1975. 216 Studio - 2BR units in 2 12-story buildings. Despite the name, the location is in Honokowai. Amenities include concierge, pool, hot tub, tennis court, pickleball court, clubhouse, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Hale Kai - Built in 1966. 40 1 & 2BR units in 2 2-story buildings. This was the 1st condominium built in West Maui. Amenities include oceanfront pool, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Maui Kai - Built in 1969. 80 Studio & 1BR units in a 10-story building. Every condo has a view of the ocean out to Lanai. Amenities include pool, jacuzzi, recreation deck, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Paki Maui - Built in 1975. 108 1 & 2BR units in 2 4-story buildings. Buildings are both semi-circles, surrounding a large green area with a koi pond. The front building residents have direct ocean views. Amenities include oceanfront pool, BBQs. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Papakea Resort - Built in 1979. 364 Studio - 2BR units in 11 4-story buildings. Some 2BRs have lofts, making a potential 3rd BR. Property converted to Fee Simple, but some unit owners have not made the conversion. The Fee is available as of this writing. - Nohonani - Built in 1974. 28 1 & 2BR units in 2 4-story buildings. All residences look out to the ocean from lanai. Amenities include oceanfront pool, BBQs. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Pikake - Built 1966. 12 units in a 2-story building. The condo lanais face straight out to the ocean. Amenities include BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.

- Napilihau Villages - Built 1997. 76 2BR units in 9 2-story buildings. Covered lanais on all residences. Amenities include BBQ.
- Napili Gardens (also called Residences at Napili Bay) – Built 1995. 16 3BR townhome units 6 2-story buildings. Each residence has a garage and its own private backyard. Napili Bay is just across the street. Gated community. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Villas at Kahana Ridge - Built in 2005 by Kahana Sun. 117 2 – 3BR units in 8 3-story buildings. Most condos have views of the ocean, which is only a couple of blocks away. Amenities include a recreation area, BBQ.
- Kahana Villa - Built in 1972. 106 1 & 2BR units in 6 buildings, each with 3 or 8 floors. 2BR floor plans have 2-stories. Location is across the street from Pohaku Beach Park. Amenities include pool, hot tub, tennis court, BBQ. Vacation rentals allowed.
- Mahinahina Beach - 32 1 & 2BR units in 4 2-story buildings. Just a few blocks from Pohaku Beach Park. Amenities include heated pool, jacuzzi, workout room, BBQ. Gated community.
Life in Napili, Kahana & Honokowai The life of these communities, even more so than most in Maui, is focused on the shoreline. This is due to the fact that only in the main section of Napili are the residences more than 1/3 of a mile from the waves.
Napili Bay draws the crowds for its longer beach stretches and calmer waters, as well as the larger resorts being on or near it. However, you’ll find great spots all the way down the coast for snorkeling, swimming or just taking some time out and relaxing.
If you want to finally learn to surf or paddle board, make Pohaku Beach (AKA S-Turns) your destination. Its friendlier waves have been teaching how to get up and ride for years.
Stop by the Napili Farmers Market on Wednesdays for real local herbs, fruits, vegetables & more plus get to know some of your neighbors, too.
You can also feed yourself at many local restaurants, like China Boat, which some say is the best Chinese food on the Island, or combine a good walk with a good breakfast and stop off at the famous Gazebo restaurant, right on the Napili Bay Beach Trail.
