Mahinahina Beach is a gated, oceanfront condominium in Honokowai that has residences within as little as 30 yards from the Pacific.
The four concrete residential buildings here are made up of two on the coast, ‘A’ ‘B’, and two behind, ‘C’ and ‘D’. These one and two bedroom condos have interiors measuring from 859 to 1,159 Sq Ft with one large lanai on the outside. It’s evenly divided between sixteen each of the one and two bedroom floor plans. An additional building, ‘F’, that bridges ‘C’ and ‘D’ holds a parking garage and storage lockers for each of the condos.
Each unit has one assigned parking space, twenty-eight of which are inside the garage & covered and four that are uncovered (all four of those assigned to Building ‘D’ units). Ceiling fans are a standard feature of the living areas and bedrooms, with some owners adding window a/c units also. Washer/Dryer is inside every condo. All of the buildings are walk-ups, so there are no elevators.
The complex has a solar pv system that supplies some of the power for the common areas, including heating the pool.
These residences have ocean views that range from peekaboo to completely unobstructed, except for the very few palm trees that stand in front of the ‘A’ and ‘B’ buildings.
Amenities & Things To Do The shoreline in front of the property is rocky, so getting actually into or down to the water isn’t easy. However, the heated pool, jacuzzi and sundeck between the front and back pair of buildings has a view of the ocean from it.
A little more than 500 yards north from your home is
Pohaku Beach Park, AKA S Turns. The beach itself is a little rocky here and there, but it’s a good place nearby to get in a relaxing swim. If you mention this park to locals, they know it especially for being where you can see sea turtles on shore and in the water. In the winter months you’ll see surfers coming here, along with some paddleboarders, because the waves here are good-sized, but not overpowering like the breaks to the north during this half of the year.
About ¾ mile south is
Honokowai Beach Park, a reef protected shore that makes it a swimmers beach due to the calm conditions. The reef serves as a snorkeling spot also, with all varieties of ocean life living and gathering here, including many tropical fish and, sometimes, sea turtles. The actual park space has two playgrounds, along with the open space, to play on plus BBQs and picnic tables for grilling.
