NOTE As of this writing (March 2025) one of the oceanfront buildings, ‘F’, is now unoccupied due to erosion undermining its foundation and its seawall.
The Homeowners Association is asking the Maui County Government to approve permits & repairs for the building & seawall, but nothing has been decided or granted.
The other oceanfront building, ‘A’, has similar problems for which it has completed repair work.

Kahana Sunset AOAO Managed Retreat Plan.
Kahana Sunset is a beachfront community in the Kahana neighborhood, residences here as close as 15 yards from the water.
The one and two bedroom condos have interiors that measure from 700 to 1,106 Sq Ft with one or two lanais exterior. One bedrooms have a single lanai that spans 84 Sq Ft, while the two bedrooms all have a pair of lanais that combined add either 308 or 392 Sq Ft of outside space. The two bedroom layouts are all two-story, the upper level containing both bedrooms, two bathrooms and the second lanai. Of the eighty residences, sixty-three are two bedrooms, with seventeen one bedrooms making up the balance.
Ceiling fans are throughout the interiors, with some also having a split a/c system that has been installed by the owner. Each unit has one unassigned, uncovered parking stall to use. Washer/Dryer is inside every condo. These are walk-up buildings, so there are no elevators in the complex.
Almost all of the residences here have ocean views, most of them partial to completely unobstructed.
Amenities & Things To Do From the coastal edge of your property there are just a few steps down to be on
Keonenui Beach. Your home sits by a protected cove that maintains the milder conditions of the waters here. You can go for a swim without dealing with overwhelming waves affecting your progress. It also makes the wading in, and around, a better experience for both you and any little ones. Although there are reports of cloudy water at times, Keonenui is known for its snorkeling. Most days it is crystal clear, allowing you to see the fish and even the sea turtles that frequent this area with no problem.
If you’re looking for a change, the larger
Napili Bay Beach is only a mile north of you. It shares many of the qualities of Keonenui, such as the calmer waters to swim and wade around in, great places for snorkeling off of it and soft sands to lay on. However, it is very popular and easier to access than your beach at home, attracting more people here that can make it a little crowded sometimes. Regardless, it’s an option anyone would want to have, with more shoreline not too far north of it that add further choices all within your neighborhood.
