Makanui is on the southern end of Poipu Kai Resort, near the east-west mid-point of the property.
The one to three bedroom condos’ interiors range from 917 to 1,760 Sq Ft with one or two lanais outside.
This is a varied complex:
- Buildings 4 to 7 hold single-level, one-bedrooms as well as two-bedrooms that can have single-level or two-story layouts.
- Building 3 is a standalone, single-level three-bedroom home.
In addition to its five main buildings (#3 - #7) that are together, Makanui includes two other buildings that are 200 yards southeast:
- Building 1 is another, larger three bedroom single-level standalone home that has its own small pool (1614 Pee Rd).
- Building 2 is a three-story four-plex, all two-bedrooms, two single-level & two two-story, with the same interiors as those in the main buildings (1568 Pee Rd)
These homes have either a 2-car garage or at least one assigned, uncovered stall for parking. Most residences use only ceiling fans, but there are some that have installed split a/c systems inside. Some of these homes have partial ocean views from them.
Amenities & Things To Do Your route to
Brennecke’s Beach is only 1/3 of a mile and it’s almost a straight shot eastward through the resort. This is a good, usually uncrowded place to get on the sands and relax. The waters can be challenging, so stick to wading in unless you have some real experience on a board.
Fortunately,
Poipu Beach Park is only about ¼ mile further to the east. This is a larger stretch of sands and is where most locals head to due to the better swimming conditions and an actual park area with BBQs and picnic tables.
If you go west from home, you’ll be on
Shipwreck Beach in just over ½ mile. Another shoreline where you can swim, snorkel or bodyboard more easily, it’s another great choice for beach time. At sunset, divers jump from the cliffs on the far east end of the beach, drawing onlookers who love the show.
The Makanui community pool is another, even easier option, plus, as a Poipu Kai resident you can use the resort's amenities, from the main pool, the multiple tennis/pickleball courts on property or the sports bar/restaurant.
