The Makahuena is an oceanfront community in Poipu, residences sitting as close as 30 yards from the Pacific.
The two and three bedroom condos’ interiors range from 1,113 to 2,538 Sq Ft over one or two-story layouts with one or two lanais exterior. Of the 79 units, about 80% are two-bedrooms. Every residence has at least one assigned, uncovered stall for their parking. The homes primarily use ceiling fans to cool the inside, but some have installed split a/c systems. There are no elevators in these buildings, all are walk-ups.
Castle Resorts runs the front desk inside the separate lobby structure as well as the hotel program, which owners can opt in to if they choose.
Many of these residences have partial ocean views, with those in Buildings 3 & 5 having totally unobstructed views of the Pacific.
Amenities & Things To Do The community pool and spa sit in a courtyard created by a few of the resort’s buildings, along with the sundeck. The tennis court is marked off for pickleball as well, so you can play either here.
When it’s beach time, just head ½ mile west and you’re on
Brennecke’s Beach. The swells are known for being more challenging, so most should stick to wading around here. The sands are soft and warm and the outlook at the waves is always good, even if the ocean conditions are not.
When you need to get in for a swim or some snorkeling, it’s only ¾ miles to the east to arrive at
Shipwreck Beach. The waters are calmer on this shoreline, so you can enter the waters much more easily most of the time. You can also join the many others who come here at sunset to see the divers jump from the cliffs over the ocean on the eastern end. It’s a little island excitement to crown the day.
