Michelle discusses the Makakilo neighborhood.
Video Transcription
Hey there, this is Michelle from Honolulu HI 5 (company now called Hawaii Living). Today, we’re going to talk about the beautiful area of Makakilo. Makakilo is located above Kapolei. It’s a beautiful area in which you have gorgeous views. Some of the views from Makikilo of Diamond Head as well as the entire Pearl Harbor all the way to Waikiki skyline are just gorgeous, breathtaking. Makakilo is a little bit cooler up on the hill than the Kapolei and other beach areas.
Makakilo is definitely another up and coming area where there is still new developments. You have everything from your one- and two-bedroom townhouses all the way to your beautiful multi-million dollar homes which are located in the beautiful Kumalani gated community at the top of the ridge. You have brand new homes still being built, and a large variety of different types of neighborhoods. The Makakilo area is so close to Kapolei. You just drive right down the ridge, and you have all the amenities of the second city, grocery stores, U.H. Oahu, U.H. West Oahu, golf courses. You’re a 15-minute drive to the Ko Olina resort areas, and you’re a quick drive into Ewa Beach or the Waikele shopping center.
In Makakilo, you can still purchase homes or townhouses in the high $200,000 range all the way up, as mentioned, into the multi-million dollar range. You have a variety of different types of building going on in Makakilo in which you can enjoy views of Diamond Head and Waikiki from a townhouse, something you can’t usually find in other areas of Oahu. The great thing about Makakilo is that it is conveniently located off the freeway, and it’s not as hot as living down on the bottom, such as in Ewa Beach.
The Makakilo area qualifies for U.S.D.A. financing, just like the Kapolei and Ewa beach areas do, and it is a great area for your first-time home buyers, families, multi-dwellings as well as investment properties. There is many, many rental opportunities in Makakilo if you’re interested in purchasing and possibly keeping your property long-term as an investment. I recommend Makakilo if you enjoy having a beautiful view of Oahu and if you’re looking for somewhere a little bit cooler to live.
So thank you for watching our little short clip about Makakilo. Have a great day.
