This is as much a local get-together as a farmer’s market. Friends and neighbors like to come each Thursday to catch up and get dinner from one of the booths. It’s a good sized event with a lot of vendors, so it’s worth carving out some time to fully enjoy. You can browse to the sounds of live music that are just one element that makes this more of a small festival than a market. The fruit & produce side is anchored by the famous Nalo Farms, but there are many other concerns well represented here, too. Shop around before you buy because you just might find a better deal down the row. While there is, for Hawaii, a good balance of prepared food & produce, it’s the food that gets most of the attention and praises. That’s just what locals focus on most. One of the most talked about vendors is the Nalo Meli booth where you can get raw honey as well as soaps made from it! Being in health & diet conscious Kailua, this is your best best for organic and vegan items, almost all from farms right here on Oahu. That doesn’t stop all the local cookies, pies and other dessert vendors from doing good business here as well, though. Save yourself some time & frustration – park in the garage above the market & in front of Macy’s.
