Dining, and especially shopping, have a profound influence on your daily experience in a home. There’s a big difference in being able to run out at a moment’s notice for that one item you need and having to wait to do errands on your way home from work. Convenience is an integral part of real estate satisfaction.
We’re happy to tell you that the homes in Ewa Beach give you a lot of alternatives for dining out, buying that crucial ingredient you forgot or just some needed shopping therapy. The emergence of the Ewa Plain has created all kinds of options, with more on the way.
We’ve got them covered here, including some of the must-eat restaurants that are the favorites of Ewa Beach residents. As you’ll see, you’ve got here some of the best places to fill your appetite and your shopping list. Not just on the West Side, but on all Oahu.
Supermarkets & Groceries
Ewa Beach has a very large Safeway, a Foodland as well as Silva’s, a smaller superette that dates to Plantation Days. The first two have almost everything most would need, while Silva’s is famous for its desserts and local food. Those who stick to organic fare have the large Down to Earth just a few minutes away in Kapolei that sells all they could want and more.
Shopping Alternatives
There are more than a few choices in Ewa Beach to buy both needs and wants, especially with the newer Laulani Village recently added. Kapolei next door multiplies those options with its big box stores like Costco and a lot more to explore. Here’s just a few available within an easy drive or nearer.
Ewa Beach Shopping Center – Smaller, with a Long’s, some eateries – local & chain – that bring most locals here and a post office.
Ewa Town Center – Similar to the Shopping Center, it is anchored by a Long’s with small restaurants and food choices that the serve the nearby residents.
Laulani Village – You’ll find the larger stores here, specifically a 60K sq ft Safeway along with Ross, City Mill & Petco and a Walgreen’s. A selection of services and dining places, too. Take care of bigger needs or grocery runs here.
Ka Makana Ali’i Mall – The 1st Phase won’t open until later in 2016, but it deserves mention. Once finished it will have 150 stores and restaurants, making it THE mall for West Oahu and the 3rd biggest on the entire Island. Ewa Beach residents will find themselves coming to Ka Makana a lot in the future.
Dining & Restaurants
Meals in Ewa Beach, like everything else, have no patience for pretense or frills. Residents like their food local, ono and filling – and that’s what you get, in all its glory. Don’t expect cloth napkins or tablecloths, just prepare yourself to have your taste buds tickled!
Daiichi Ramen – The Ramen is great here, but that’s not the only draw. Dishes like Chicken Curry and their gyoza are winners, too. Great service and low pricing makes this a huge local favorite.
Royal Thai Garden – Diners love both the noodles and curry items at Royal Thai, so the primary options are always solid choices. Those who like their Thai spicy, not HOT, will love this place most.
Ewa Beach Golf Course Restaurant – Open to public and serves all three meals. Try their Butterfish (specialty) or more casual fare like their Teri Burger and Nachos. Great views of course and the ocean for lower mid-level pricing.
Saito & Pho – The Pho is well loved, but the standouts are the Wafu Steak and the Butterfish. A little hard to find (behind Burger King) and well worth seeking out. Mid-level pricing, but on the affordable side.
Loco Moco Drive Inn – Part of small chain, but this one has Chinese roast meat choices no other location does – and they’re good! The plate lunches will please local stomachs, too. Very affordable.
Elim Korean Barbecue – Meat Jun gets the most attention. You can’t go wrong with a lot of the remaining menu, though. 1st timers should order Elim Special, with Korean Ribs, Chicken, Pork and 3 sides.
Taste of Hong Kong – Does provoke extreme opinions, but most love it. A lot. Walnut Shrimp is highlighted by most as their favorite, with Egg Fu Yung next. Most dishes around $10 or even less.
Roy’s Ko Olina – If you do desire something upscale, drive here and indulge. Can’t decide. Order the fixed meal/wine pairings. 3 delicious courses with the perfect accompaniment. Soothing live local music, too.
