The Kona Mansions V is found in the southern section of Kailua-Kona town, about 200 yards from the ocean. The property is bordered by open, undeveloped land to the south, with even more to its east across Kuakini Hwy.
Each of the concrete buildings is actually two structures bridged by walkways on the upper floors over a courtyard that's open to the sky.
The one and two bedroom condos interiors span from 532 to 1,117 Sq Ft with one lanai and/or one balcony on the outside. Seventy-two of the units are one bedroom, single-level floor plans that have a balcony off the living area, big enough to stand on, but not sit.
The eighteen two bedrooms are divided into two layouts:
- Six are a single-level floor plan with a balcony off the living area and a lanai off the master bedroom.
- Twelve are two story layouts, with both bedrooms on the upper floor. These have a living area balcony and a lanai off the master bedroom upstairs.
Each unit has one assigned, uncovered space for their parking. Ceiling fans are in every home, with many having installed window units as well, especially in the living area. Washer/dryer are in every residence here. All of the buildings in the complex are walk-ups, there are no elevators. Some of the condos have peekaboo to partial ocean views from them.
Amenities & Things To Do South of Kona Mansions V, just 0.4 miles, sits
Honl’s Beach, world famous as the birthplace of boogie boarding. Despite that status, it’s usually not crowded here, outside of the annual Roots Bodyboarding Contest in June. Along with room on the sand, this is obviously a good spot to surf or boogie board, the waves being pretty consistent. That can also mean that swimming here should sometimes be left for another, calmer day, though.
Hale Halawai is only a little more than a ½ mile north of you, an oceanfront park with open green space with a large pavilion in the middle. The pavilion holds concerts and performances, as well as festivals, such as some of the events of the annual
Kona Coffee Festival. There is an access point to get to the shoreline itself, which has tidepools to explore, but be ready for it to be rocky here.
